Better To Get Fired or Voluntarily Resign For A Bad Job Done

I was fascinated with the news today on how the person in charge of secret service in the US, Kimberly Cheatle, got subpoenaed to answer questions in regards to the security failure in the attempted assignation of Donald Trump. One of the common questions was whether or not she would resign because of this but it seemed like she was insistent that she would stay on as apparently she felt she is still the best person for the job.

I think it is inevitable that she will no longer be in that position one way or another due to how bad the situation was. I was actually expecting her to resign, but it made me wonder if she felt resigning would be more say humiliating than getting fired in this context as a reason to not do so. Usually, infamous CEOs who made terrible business decisions simply resign and try to leave with a gold parachute as they say. In those cases, it’s probably more about just getting as much money as you can.

Although, for an average worker funny enough I know a lot of people who would rather get fired as in many places that usually results in the employee being entitled to some kind of package as a result of the company terminating them. That makes me wonder if that has anything to do with this person’s decision as well because here job performance is inexcusable by the looks of it.
