Today at the supermarket I noticed that there was a lady who appeared to be opening up various packages of oranges where you are meant to take a bag and then pay for it. However, she decided at first to simply pick out what she thought were the best ones in the package and then place them in a regular plastic bag meant for by the pound oranges of a different type.
Wouldn’t this this fundamentally be stealing if you think about it? What happened after kind of surprised me. An employee appeared to have noticed this and greeted her. Despite that, she just kept doing what she was doing. He then told her that if she wants to buy those it has to be in the original retail package bag. So what she did afterwards was she still essentially took pieces from different bags and then filled up one of the packaged bags with the ones she wanted. It’s hard to tell as she may have actually took more while leaving the other bags with less than what should be in there.
I am assuming the worker was being nice since it was an elderly. But if the person was stealing from your business per se would it matter to you? I am just surprised how she was doing it as if she does it all the time as well.
