Attempting To Hide Your Success

Watching that Celebrity Apprentice episode the other day and Arsenio’s comment about how no one would return his calls since now he doesn’t have his own show demonstrated that a lot of people who he thought were his friends were simply phonies. That reminded me of a guy who said he purposely tries to hide his success from others as to him he felt those people who want to come into his life because of his success will only want to take what they can from it as oppose to contributing to it.

I guess for him it is a little easier since he usually does more of the money man role such as being the behind the scene investor where you don’t need to be in the spotlight much. It must be a little tricky though if you are starting out as most people would say you want all the attention you can get to try and get your business going. Example, more customers and generally people to get to know you in an effort to bring in more business.

I think the more practical thing in regards to hiding your success to not attract phonies, so to speak, is to just not walk around with expensive commodities. Example, it’s not uncommon to see wealthy people wear regular and casual clothing with haircuts that are done from a local barber in the community. I have even met a lot of people where when they go out in public you would think they are a regular working Joe as they even carry around a low tech phone for example. But when you go inside their home all of a sudden you can see their financial wealth.

In many ways it’s like if a person dresses up in skimpy clothing then you know what type of people that would attract into their life.
