With all the protests happening recently the main organization appears to be Black Lives Matter which would make sense considering it was a black man that was murdered that triggered everything. But as I passed by a protest the other day where a bunch of people were blocking a bridge I noticed something a little different. While there were signs support Black Lives Matter it seemed like a large portion of the signs actually related to other issues. For example, Indigenous rights.
There seemed to be very little people of color too which was a little off. But it did make me wonder with all those factors on whether or not this protest actually was indeed for different causes that were simply trying to use the Black Lives Matter situation to help get more attention for theirs while at the same time getting more freedom to do so as authorities would be more sensitive about shutting down an operation.
Kind of makes you think where even businesses do this when it comes to marketing. For example, creating themes based on a hot topic or associating oneself with an event to get more exposure. In some cases, even setting up rallies and attaching themselves as the sponsors. Would you consider that shady or smart?
