One usual routine of the day is that I check my e-mails to see if there is anything new that needs my attention. One thing that caught my attention today was actually a piece of spam e-mail that I was going to immediately delete. The funny thing though was what the person did which caught my attention. On top of the usual spam pitch what they did was that they simply took a screenshot of one of my work and attached it to kind of show that they were specifically addressing me. While that was cute it still went in the trash for various reasons.
But it did make me think how at times that can be a legitimate thing to think about when you are addressing someone in a company of sorts that you may have never met in an attempt to do a pitch. By composing something unique that the recipient can relate to it will probably help you stand out from 90% of the other people who simply send template responses of sort.
Kind of reminds me on how some people suggest sending thank you post cards after some kind of work where personalizing it can go a long way. That means you will actually have to put in some effort to know who you are talking to.
