Actually Reading Contracts Before Signing

This seems so basic where whenever you are offered a contract of some sort you should try and take your time to learn what exactly you are signing as a lot of people often think of the rewards they can potentially get when things are perfect. However, as we all know things can go sour in business. In this case I was talking to a company that presented me with an offer and reading the terms of the agreement was eyebrow raising as so many of the clauses were so vague and general to the point where they could literally have rights to virtually everything one does in an industry.

I brought this up with the person I was speaking to and he was agreeing it was kind of odd and he was actually surprised no one else brought it up as I was clearly someone who actually read the contract. Apparently, he processed quite a few people too with the original contract wording which makes you realize how common this is in a scary way. It’s very common for people to do that when it comes to using services from a company as most people just scroll through the terms of services and click accept. But for a business or professional working contract? A bad habit to have during those times.

While it can be expensive, even getting a lawyer may be a good investment if you don’t have the patience to study everything that is written.
