It’s kind of crazy to see how many Taylor Swift fans there are here as Taylor Swift lights and merchandise is all over the city at the moment. But one activity that caught my attention Is the digital stamp collecting event where people literally have to go around the city and find light display spelling out names of the singer’s songs. It seems to be working for them as it almost looks like something I’ve seen with Pokémon go which was able to get groups of strangers to go in the same direction and destination.
You can imagine how valuable that is for businesses and you do have to wonder if it would have been as successful without the digital stamp feature. I would be inclined to say they may have gotten a similar amount of people but not everyone would have been more inclined to be that are similar times to collect these stamps as it does require people to line up and scan an item with their phones. That’s gold social media marketing there alone.
It’s shows how having something interactive that’s easily accessible can be worth the investment to draw a crowd. I would imagine in the future people could have augmented reality types of features in specific spots for these types of events.
