Recently here there has been a lot of rumbling at how expensive the gas is here in Canada and so a ton of people have been going south of the border to get cheaper gas. What was interesting is the heated arguments this resulted with people where some say the price is ridiculous and others say that it is just how supply and demand works. For example, get a fully electric car or don’t use one at all many would say.
I think at times it’s actually better to not just accept prices the way they are in the sense of always trying to seek out places that can offer it cheaper while weighing the pros and cons for that. Grocery shopping is a great example where many people pay these high prices from the larger chains and just accept it in the sense of everyone is charging that price so you can’t do anything about it. However, when you start looking at the smaller places they can often charge way less. Or would you be willing to buy say those “ugly fruits” for a huge discount?
Gas can be a little trickier of course but I would imagine there are still companies that use it as a loss leader to get people to buy other things from its business. Generally speaking I think it’s always better to have the mindset that you can potentially find things for less. Otherwise like paying for monthly service bills we just kind of accept fees even if they are outrageous without opening to the possibility that there may be better offers out there.
