A Good Two Year Deal With A Horrible Third

financial literacy

I have noticed lately that there are a ton of companies offering cell phone and TV plans in anticipation for things like the holiday. They all sound fantastic initially such as paying $30 a month for something that should be about $60 a month normally. All of them require a contract of some sort as usually for these types of services where that make sense as companies need long-term commitments to try and make a profit.

What is often the case though is that these kinds of offers give you this great rate for say two years where the third year of your contract of sort will be billed at the regular price. In some cases the regular price for the company is so horrible that even with the initial two year discount you will end up paying way more than if you did business with another company.

I am always surprised when people don’t look at what their bill will be in total by the end of the contract as opposed to the initial discount offering. They usually say too if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
