Today I got some good coupons for a store called Shoppers Drug Mart which made it too hard to pass up as the offer they gave me was I could buy two dozen eggs at $2.99 each and butter at $3.99. That in itself is a huge savings. But they also gave me an offer where if I bought the two together, they would essentially give me $4 back in store reward points. Sold. The funny thing is this store is notorious for having expensive prices such as a litre of juice that would be $1.50 in most places often sell for like $4 here. That’s because this place targets seniors that go in for things like medication usually and so a quick grab and go based on convenience is a huge target audience for them.
But even though it’s usually overpriced, this is one of the few stores that usually have crazy deals like the above which makes it hands down the cheapest may times. I would think because they make so much from all the casual shoppers that they can afford to offer these steeper discounts at times. Versus companies that rely on steady low prices overall which gives them less flexibility to have massive sales.
That’s something to keep in mind as it is counter intuitive to prioritize the expensive places like this as a frequent store that has great deals.
