I was randomly watching this video that popped up today that revolved around how this one character came from a wealthy family and as a result people somehow knew about this. While they at first treated her like a regular person the character saw signs that the other people were taking advantage of her financially such as getting her to pay the bills when they went out for activities. So long story short she decided to test them by saying she was broke now and not surprisingly everyone but one person pretty much went on with their life without offering any real help.
It kind of raised a fascinating point about money which I think is actually kind of important. Do you always have a healthy dose of skepticism when people befriend you or ask for favors that are money related to the point where you question if they are just after your money or resources? Kind of like the video implied there has to be that balance of not being over the top paranoid where everyone is out to steal from you while at the same time not being ignorant about the fact that there are those who will.
Even speaking from my personal experience when it comes to money you would think something like over spending or making bad investments should have been the biggest money losses in my life but it wasn’t. It was unfortunately being taken advantage of by people where despite all the warning signs you give the benefit of the doubt just to realize it’s too late after. With this example though it’s interesting about the point where the person purposely said they were now poor to test people.
Would you ever go to that extent to ensure that you aren’t being used for one’s personal financial gains? Just speaking from my own experience I remember that one time where I said to myself ”This feels so wrong to be testing someone” and so I ultimately didn’t. That ended up being a $10,000+ mistake not to.
