Even though the murder of George Floyd by a police officer is technically a US incident it seems like the issue has gone across the globe as people gathered to protest similar incidents in their own countries. What was interesting to see is how there were many businesses and public figures who wanted to say or do something but had no idea what. At the same time some worried that getting into these kinds of topics can often be a no win situation where most opt to just let it play out on its own.
Do you tend to immediately associate your business with events like these to show support even if it can potentially mean impacting your bottom line? I know a lot of people would say yes as an outsider but I know many wouldn’t immediately do it if it was their livelihood on the line. This is usually why sometimes really large businesses will simply support people behind the scenes with money and resources to do the advocating instead. This can be true with bad things as well such as influencing anti-competition laws.
In an ideal world everyone would be able to stand together without fear of financial repercussion of course. But in large events like these would you risk it all to say what you need?
