This one always kind of gets me where we can often turn things around financially by making some simple choices in our lives if you are tight on money. For this example I was hearing about a person who was literally struggling with money due to the lack of work. It seemed like he didn’t have much too due to the situation. But here was the odd thing to me. Somehow he still manages to have a social life such as going out to movies or coffee shops to hang out with people while ordering stuff. My first thought would be if you are tight on money things like buying coffee at like a Starbucks should be off the list I would imagine. But regardless of the situation he specifically made a budget for these kinds of things still.
It reminds me how many times we can all turn things around if we really wanted to. It seemed like in this case the situation simply wasn’t important enough to make those changes where one is technically still getting by. So why change unless you really have to right? I know for myself it’s more about the reward in terms of the long-term benefit. Like here I can imagine you get a lot of comfort and pleasure by still doing the things you enjoy for that moment even if it means being miserable right after due to the financial stress. I personally find it more rewarding knowing that I don’t have to stress about finances everyday instead which makes it more appealing than that one day of partying per se.
Almost like saying wouldn’t you like to have a house per se that you live in everyday to enjoy the comfort and safety of it? To me that’s how it feels like to want to redirect my funds to create that lifestyle even though other things may be more exhilarating for the day. When your finances are all in check then it can be a great idea to just have fun in these ways where it doesn’t compromise your well-being right after.
