Recently I had an item that is no longer functioning overall as something about it is non-functioning. While the natural reaction is to just throw it away another thought is to try to repair it by purchasing the parts that are broken. That kind of got me thinking where if you had something like a broken down computer wouldn’t it be a good idea to try and recoup some money be selling the parts that work? For a computer this could be things like a video card or of the cpu.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of used part items on say ebay are done this way. I know for a lot of electronics it’s kind of crazy to see people literally dump the entire thing in the garbage can for the truck to take way as example. I would think at minimum too you should either donate it to people who could potentially fix and use it or actually just sell the product as is for really cheap. There are a lot of people who love to buy cheap broken items which they then fix and resell.
If it’s something you were literally going to throw away anyways you may as well get some money for it and give it to people who will make use of it.
