Way back a few years ago I participated in this Welfare food challenge where the premise was for the challengers to live on a food budget of $21 a week. I actually though that was perfectly straight forward and simple if you are used to living the frugal life. Sure enough, I destroyed that challenge and even ha money left over. But I then had critics saying things such as how I was just lucky as an example where various sales just happened to have appeared on the same week of this challenge.
That then gave me an idea for fun to find an item for one dollar every day for a year to prove it wasn’t a fluke. Sure enough I created http://onedollarbudget.com/ and found crazy deals each day. For the most part I just left it dormant as an archive documentary of sort. But I realized recently with this pandemic for some reason that site started to get a lot of traffic.
I imagine during these times people are tight on a budget and want to find the cheapest priced items as possible. It’s just kind of neat to see this happening and reminds you how there is always a specific time in history where your work can be invaluable even if that doesn’t’ seem to be the case today. Keep creating as you never know who you can help.
