One financial related mystery that I heard someone say before was how he didn’t understand why it was that many people spend premium dollars on things such as electronics as they want the best whereas for things like food they are willing to get the worst in an effort to save money even though that is a survival necessity purchase. Today I was talking to a person though that actually did put priority in trying to get the best food quality wise but his situation was not normal in the sense of money really was no worry for him.
It does make me wonder if people think that is fundamentally odd where we wouldn’t prioritize our life necessities as opposed to some shiny new toy as an example. The only real way to justify that I think if you were struggling and had to make a choice is that one feels for some reason getting the expensive non necessity will somehow help them make more money which in turn will enable to get the necessities easier. For example, people getting expensive suit to look like a bigshot to land better business deals.
That might sound silly but it is a perfectly legitimate reason to do so if the mindset is you are investing to enable you to get other things easier. If it is like a situation where you can spend an extra $100 to get a gold plated toy for the heck of it versus using that to get the best meal for the month that is when I would say the priorities seem a little off.
