Nowadays a lot of retailers seemed to be offering people gift cards as a bonus for buying high cost items. For example, purchase a $200 TV and get a $25 gift card. What surprises me is that a lot of people don’t attempt to price match stores if the actual item costs less elsewhere as they simply factor in if the item is cheaper when you factor in the gift card value. For example, if one store sold the TV for $200 and gave a $20 gift card which you can use for a future purchase most people wouldn’t think twice about just buying it as is even if another store had the TV for $190.
While not every store would allow this, it’s not uncommon in this scenario that the larger chain stores would be fully willing to price match the other store’s deal and still give you the gift card. So like in this case if you request for a price match you could essentially get it for $190 and get the $20 gift card. It never hurts to ask as you can end up saving a lot of money this way.
