Online Food Delivery Fees And Tips

Today I decided to try something new. I found myself short on time and while this is usually one of the worst things to do in terms of conserving money, I decided that I would order dinner from a restaurant instead of cooking at home. That then gave me the idea to try and order it online as I know many places do offer that. One thing that I did do was that before I even decided to choose which company to go for I searched the Internet for coupons for these sites and was happy to find a $5 off my first order discount. Not bad as that is almost a price of a meal itself so it made purchase more reasonable.

So while choosing a restaurant and ordering it was pretty straight forward as you just look at the menu and add it to the cart as if you are shopping at a online retail store. At the checkout it calculated all the tax and any shipping charges that applied. The interesting thing was how there is a tip option where you can simply tip the driver with this payment right away. In some ways I thought this was strange as if you already pre-charge a customer for delivery charges wouldn’t that count as the tip as well in many ways? It would be strange if for example if I ordered an item from a retail store and having to pay a shipping fee for the item and at the same time it asks for another 10% in tips.

I guess its the whole notion that if someone works in a food industry that its like a stereotype that they must make so little money and so you are more inclined to tip. I think it makes more sense to take it out though if you are charging people a shipping fee.
