I heard an interesting comment from a person today as he was telling people before that he was trying to not spend any money on a particular hobby as it was getting kind of expensive. However, he was unable to do so as he didn’t have enough self control. Someone then asked him how he felt about that and the response was he doesn’t really think about it as just like drinking a beer as long as he had fun he he knows the money would have been spent on something else anyways.
Now granted his situation is a little different than most as he is very well of financially. I was thinking though how his situation is so common for a more average person and this kind of mentality usually results in people getting into debt. To me you should establish a little balance in these situations. If this is your entertainment fund then you don’t need to dwell over. But at the same time it doesn’t hurt to actually be aware if you are spending beyond what you have originally intended. Simply swaying it off only creates trouble in the long-run I say.
