Today was Family Day here which means it was a holiday for most people as it seems like kids were out with their family members since there was no school. I was able to see two contrasting situations where people either spent a lot of money as a result to keep their kids occupied and entertained and those who spent virtually no money as it was more about spending time. For example, it seemed like there were a ton of people going to the malls and spending a lot of money dining out and toy shopping. Everything a kid loves I guess.
Then there was the contrast where there were a ton of families and kids around the local park that happens to have a lot of animals such as ducks. It seems like the choice was to let nature entertain the kids. For the most part that seemed to work too where something a simple as a duck walking near them generated a lot of laughter and non-sop amusement. It makes you wonder where when you choose to spend a lot of money during holidays like these is it because you think like here the child would only enjoy that or is it that you simply have no real experience with all the things you can do that are free?
Even as an adult I think we often associate any free activity as something that must be boring. In reality it can just simply be not many people take the time to explore things and of course companies spend a ton of money advertising their events that gets your attention. As well too, just from my experience kids seem to be entertained by the most simple things.
