I saw something interesting today where there is this guy who from what it appears has made a living out of being extremely outspoken and rude as a way to entertain. It seemed like he had a lot of followers too. For one reason or another it seemed like he was recently trying to raise money for a charity. The thing was, it seemed like he couldn’t really get any sponsors despite him having a large following.
I guess that is an obstacle as if you are in that situation a lot of companies want to stay away from associating themselves in a business way with a persona that may be too dark/controversial even though the people themselves may very well be a fan of some sort. That then makes people think from the start if everything you do should try to be say as clean as possible.
At the same time, you could argue there are a ton of people who do get the support and aren’t afraid of pushing boundaries. It’s just a lot harder to find that support I guess you can say. I think it’s even more true that if you are going in a direction that goes against the majority then you have to be prepared first to pretty much fund yourself. If you expect to do things so different than I suppose it’s reasonable that you need to take a different path for funding too.
