Making It All About Money To Make It Worth It

I was reading today about the boxer Floyd Mayweather where a lot of people want to see him fight MMA athletes in the UFC. The last time he fought an MMA fighter was in a boxing ring with boxing rules which would definitely favor him. He apparently earned almost $275 Million fighting McGregor where it definitely was a big event. It seems like this time around if he was to fight again he is asking for about $600 million.

That is so crazy to think about where I actually wouldn’t doubt that such a thing could go through if it made sense financially. That’s what got me thinking as Mayweather’s comment is consistently that he is a business man and knows that he works in an entertainment style field. Because of that he is willing to do virtually any kind of fight for the most part it seems as long as it makes sense financially. To him it’s almost like it truly is all about the money.

People often say that you need to treat business as just that as opposed to allowing your feelings and emotions make decisions that isn’t best for business. Just being on that side of the extreme still feels a little odd. It would be like a situation of a high paying job like a doctor. Imagine one guy got into it because they love discovering cures and treating people whereas the other guy does it because it pays a lot. Both of them let’s say does an outstanding job. But would you view the guy that does it purely for money differently? Again, to me it’s just kind of odd to think about. But at the same time that’s usually what people tell you to do if you want to make a lot of money.
