internet learning and business

Like many people I get a ton of spam e-mail messages each day with most of them wanting your money or personal information. This one was kind of interesting as it referenced my last name as a lot of e-mail spam often say a generic sir or madam. This was the e-mail I received:

Dear Yu,

How are you and your family? I’m a lawyer to late Mr. George Yu. He was a citizen of your country and former Director Petroleum Co Benin. Before his death, he had an account valued at about Eight Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars deposited with Bank here in Benin Rep. I want to present you as the next of kin to claim the funds with my assistance, reply directly to my email and I will give you more details.(waleed@godwinchambers.com)

Best regards,
Advocate Waleed Yahaya.

Now alarm bells often go off immediately. I usually never click on the actual links but this time I was curious and just manually entered the address.

At first it kind of looks semi-professional right? But what I usually do for these kinds of sites are I look at the source code. As you can see it was actually taking picture content from a different site.

Whether that form is legitimate I am not sure. But it is enough for me to know this first one isn’t all that it appears to be. People often think that no one can fall for stuff like this, but as proven in the past with my other posts many do. So trash this one to the junk folder everyone and don’t give any money.
