Judging Value Based On The Price Tag Only

I was at a store today that happened to sell jewelry and almost everything was marked as 70% off. There were plenty of items that were tagged as originally about $1000 and was now in the range of $300. That constantly made me think if it was silly to not purchase it where if it was truly being sold for that much cheaper then even buying it for the sole purpose of reselling it can be fruitful. However, this isn’t a category that I am knowledgeable about.

I always find that to be an annoying habit too where you tend to simply trust what the retailer is telling you in terms of how much you are saving when really it could simply be an inflated price. This kind of thing is hard to research too as you probably do need a more specific expert to evaluate the value of the item as opposed to like a generic product that a lot of retailers carry. In this case though, fortunately I wasn’t tempted enough to purchase it considering it is a no returns or exchange policy.

Funny too how when it comes to a category that you are knowledgeable with you would immediately be skeptical whereas when it comes to ones that you don’t know as well you tend to give it more benefit of the doubt that it is a good deal.
