This got me thinking as I was recently testing a new microphone for a future project in which I decided to show people my progress in trying this new item to enhance sound quality. As with most new gear you need to learn the ins and out to get the best results. The initial reaction from many was how they thought the new microphone was horrible and that I should go back to the old one. It definitely didn’t sound as good, but even I knew that’s because I wasn’t utilizing it to its full capability as I was testing it. Technically there is no way this product would be worst too as the hardware is superior than what I was using.
As days went by the sound got better and eventually people were amazed at the quality. So that makes you think how many times people quickly judge a piece of tool or resource simply because it’s not immediately like something they are used to. New items often require different techniques to make the best of it and I can imagine this is how people get stuck without innovating as they don’t try and learn to use better quality items that may have a dramatic impact on their product and services.
Have patience and try to fully learn the tools and resources that you have to maximize the results.
