Interesting Rolex Watch Paper Value

Today I just randomly watched this video where apparently a person purchased this Rolex watch way back during 1971 and never worn it. I don’t know the backstory but he apparently brought it to some antique roadshow to essentially sell it seems. After looking through everything the person was given a valuation of about $700,000. That’s not a bad return of investment huh?

But what was interesting as well were the extra details about the paper and packaging. The person doing the appraisal seemed to imply the fact that the paper wasn’t even touched makes that worth over four figures alone. Can you believe that? Just the piece of paper? Kind of reminds me of the joke where you can sell anything on Ebay and apparently people do actually sell old newspaper as an example.

Funny enough I still have a Rolex oyster perpetual brand new in the box that I got for my school graduation gift way back that I never used as well. Makes me wonder what the value of that is. Especially with these notes how people actually value the packaging.
