I was having a conversation with a person the other day where at times I have often experienced situations where people who were befriending me and acting as if they simply want to provide me support were in reality just trying to take advantage of something I have to benefit themselves. I guess a stereotypical example would be someone giving you compliments just so they can ask you for money. So I was expressing how I don’t really like to work with people like that as it seems so dishonest.
But the interesting thing was the person I was talking to implied that I should think of it differently where it’s simply a business. Basically, that individual obviously was treating me as a number or tool to benefit himself and so I should simply treat it the same where I can just demand something purely from a business point of view as well. While that sounds okay on paper to me that would be okay if people were just upfront about it.
Otherwise in many ways it just makes me think where if a person is in a sense being extremely fake per se as you know their true intentions doesn’t that mean they will show similar traits during the actual agreement as well? Or would you still say that is just business and you should do it if it makes sense for you? This is still one of those things where I personally try and only work with people I trust.
