Every Sunday a supermarket here has some kind of sale for about six items where many times the deals are significantly cheaper than other places. While I don’t actually plan to get anything, I kind of keep my budget open in the event there is a great deal. This was a great example today as eggs have been getting expensive in a lot of places where many places were selling a dozen for about $5. So to my surprise when I went to the store, they had a dozen for $2.99. Sure enough, I bought two.
There are a lot of times when I go by and there simply isn’t a deal I am interested in. Therefore, I just save money. But usually for many people they buy all their groceries at once for say two weeks and so they don’t leave any room to buy deals like these. I usually try and adjust my meals based on the sales of the week and leaving some extra purchases open for times like this.
It’s almost like buying pasta and sauce for the week but leaving some funds open in case there is a great deal for say meats or vegetables if I couldn’t find deals for them before. You could still prepare a variety of stuff as is with what you have. So it makes it easier to budget and be open to other sales that may happen. Great way to save and get a variety of stuff in my view.
