I was reading all the news today on how in California they actually made it illegal for companies to replace real actors with AI generated characters unless they have explicit permission do so. For example, you can’t just generate an actor that has passed away without permission and probably a licensing fee of sort. With Sora AI going crazy where people are generating celebrity impersonations and full movies with just some simple text prompts, it reminds you how with AI currently and regulations still catching up you could develop an AI business in this space and have it pulled from right under you the next day.
That makes you wonder if it is a wise investment to be entering into the creating space in the AI field with companies and authors suing the AI companies for using their work as a way to train its AI. For common tasks and problem-solving applications, I would think there wouldn’t be as much of a legal hurdle.
There is the other argument too where you may as well get in while its hot, make your millions of dollars and then let it all go when the ride is over as you go on to other businesses.
