There were examples I saw over the past week where people and organizations decided to use their voice and platform to talk about issues that are far beyond what their demographics is looking for. Politics was the most common theme such as people openly bashing politicians even though the platform is supposed to be like purely entertainment related. Or imagine going to a food related site where all of a sudden they are talking about violence. This created quite a stir in a few cases which was interesting to observe.
For example, a lot of people would actually say people who do this are abusing their power and position where they think just because they have a lot of followers that they can enforce their personal beliefs on them. It got very messy in many cases with the justification being if the person or company strongly believes in something and they have the platform to make it heard then it is like a civil duty of sorts to do so.
They often say you should always keep your business far away from personal matters and feelings. In cases like these you can see why as it’s almost like you can’t win in those cases. That just doesn’t seem right based on how we were all taught to do the right thing huh? If anything, I guess creating like a different entity of some sort for your other passions would probably be wiser. Unless you are going for a complete change of identity of course.
