After having some conversations with people about finance one common theme on why people simply dread the idea of having to manage their money responsibly is the simple notion that saving money is boring. It’s a lot more fun to be carefree while enjoying the luxuries of life that money can buy. With that said it made me think how for myself I think it’s fun to do things such as finding good deals or having good practices that in the end help to keep me debt free. I was trying to think if I did anything in particular to make managing my finances fun.
The main thing I was thinking was how you kind of have to have some kind of challenge in doing so. When it becomes kind of like a competition of sort to always do better like everything else you are more motivated to beat your old records and ultimately having fun doing it. For me finding great deals and helping the people I know save money too is fun in itself as it’s great to see the sunrises on people’s faces when they save so much money as if you gave them a Christmas present. Or for myself trying to find ways to generate more income is like a video game score that you want to get higher.
It helps a lot if you actually have people around your life who are actively trying to save and make more money as well in a similar fashion as it gives you even more people who can potentially push you to do even better to keep things exciting. But like everything if you make it so that you actually enjoy what you do then you are more likely to be successful with it as you will always continue to grow and improve out of passion.
