Checking Your Autorenewal Bills

This got me thinking as I saw a person go through multiple instances where they have various services checked off to be auto renewed which should theoretically mean you won’t need to worry about not paying the bills on time. But in this case the auto renewals repeatedly did not work with multiple vendors which meant services got cut off. This is bad for web-based services such as webhosting as it could mean your files are potentially going to get wiped once it expires.

While I usually tend to manually renew my bills, I would always check my credit card statements if I was expecting to be billed in this way just to confirm that the charge actually went through and for the right amount. I have heard stories of people getting auto charged for outrageous fees they never expected either because it was simply an error or there was a fine print they were unaware of in which the provider increased the fee.

In that sense, you shouldn’t ever be hands-off even if you opt to have auto renewal options for your services. Even when I buy things at the grocery store I tend to always double check the receipt to make sure everything was charged correctly.
