Charging High Fees To Desperate People That Works Ethics

Sunny drone shot

I almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing recently as I was watching how here were people that charged others upwards of $10,000 an hour for their consultation services as the justification is since they have been there and done that then their time is worth it. You could see that people would kind of be in that desperate state to find solutions and sure enough many of the end up paying the fees.

It was interesting seeing it from a business point of view though where it seemed like for many it actually wasn’t to do so much that one’s service is necessarily going to work 100% but rather it’s about create that image of high quality where they only need like one person to say yes and it works for them. This is so true for many products where on the inside it is the same as everything else but the marketing and branding is just very good in portraying that value.

Kind of the opposite where many times people say their products are too expensive and they aren’t getting any customers and this is like the polar opposite approach. In some ways I would be inclined to say it feels a little uncomforting in taking that much money from a person who is desperately seeking for a solution. Might not be exactly the same but it almost feels like the stereotypical example of the tech guy charging the non-savvy senior thousands of dollars for something they just want to get fixed.

Is this just smart business when you price yourself this way where if people are willing to pay then all good? I just know in some industries it’s almost like playing with people’s hopes and dreams where it just doesn’t feel right in those cases to me. It’s different if it was a say a rich guy that wants something done like right away or they clearly just want the top end.
