It’s often true that when people get free help from others it seems like many people don’t value it. The mindset seems to be somewhere along the lines of this person will always be there tomorrow so there is no rush in prioritizing things related to him/her. When it comes to giving consultation advice people often don’t apply what they were told as it seems like they just don’t really take it seriously. That then made me think as a person I know mentioned that he had this thing where if any friends or family members ever asks him for advice within his professional expertise he expects them to pay him like everyone else.
I was thinking isn’t that kind of harsh? I mean his way of thinking isn’t unreasonable where if you are going to take up his time and not actually apply anything that he is telling you then it’s best not to waste each other’s time. But he had a good twist to this. Basically if he knew the person really well and he wanted to do it for free he would still charge them like one of his clients. However, if they end up actually doing something with what he consulted them with he then gives them back their money. That’s actually not a bad idea huh?
Like there if the person truly did waste your time then technically there was still a fair trade of sort. It kind of teaches people too I would imagine to not take things for granted and to be really sure that you are serious. Would you ever do that for the people you know in your life?
