Alright, so the Celebrity Apprentice started just yesterday and as I result I get to blog about it like before. This time around the celebrities were as follows:
Men:
Brian McKnight
Dennis Rodman
Herschel Walker
Clint Black
Tom Green
Jesse G. James
Scott Hamilton
Andrew Dice Clay
Women:
Tionne Watkins
Khloe Kardashian
Joan Rivers
Melissa Rivers
Claudia Jordan
Annie Duke
Brande Roderick
Natalie Gulbis
The Men Dubbed themselves as team “Kotu†which is supposed to stand for “King of the universe†and the women called themselves “Athena†that is suppose to represent the goddess of beauty, wisdom and conducting war intelligently.
While the candidates seem to be diverse, the only really noticeable famous person out of everyone I thought was Dennis Rodman.
This was a season premiere two hour episode and the first task for the two teams was to bake cupcakes and sell them on the street for as much money as possible. The team with the highest total would win. The project manager for Kotu was Herschel Walker and for Athena it was Joan Rivers.
There was often this funny moment between Donald Trump and the Comedian Andrew Dice Clay. The first of which was when Andrew was complaining about how there was no bagels for them in their rooms as he advocated that people need energy to do things. When Trump asked who’s fault he thought that was he squarely blamed it on Trump and his staff. As you can imagine, there was this pin dropping in the room scenario. Actually, I don’t even know if he was being serious or if he was trying to be funny.
For the most part everything was straight forward as just like last year it seemed like the winning team would highly depend on who had the most connections and richest friends. The main two rivalries I noticed was on team Athena between Claudia Jordan and Annie Duke. I guess being a professional poker player Annie Duke has a more aggressive personality which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
On team Kotu’s side, Andrew Dice Clay really did not want to bake cupcakes and so instead he took off mentioning that he would go on Sirius radio to help draw in traffic for the day’s event. On the day of the actual selling, there was actually one twist where each team had the opportunity to sell one cupcake for $15,000. All they had to do was choose their best tasting cupcake and take it to a company called “Crumbsâ€. The owner will simply taste both cupcakes and whichever one she preferred best would get $15,000 and they will find out in the boardroom.
Each team actually came very close to each other in the end. Team Athena ended up winning the $15,000 cupcake challenge and it was noted that the owner thought team Kotu’s cupcake was disgusting. So overall, the men earned $49,449 and the women earned $61,267. As you can see, that $15,000 cupcake would have made a difference.
In the boardroom it came down to Dennis Rodman, Herschel Walker And Andrew Dice Clay. Andrew Dice Clay must not have been having very good luck on the show as every joke he tried to spit out wasn’t really funny and he even implied that he would simply quit. You know what happens then like in past shows where Trump pleads people to not do that otherwise they will be known as “Quittersâ€. Ultimately, Andrew Dice Clay got fired.
I wasn’t as “entertained†watching this episode as I thought I would. At the same time, I didn’t really find any useful techniques from a business perspective. Although, it does kind of surprise me like in life in general how you can have a team of successful people that can’t put their heads together to make something.
