This got me thinking as recently when I went to my regular barbershop they had a new person and there isn’t usually a system in place as you walk in and get whomever is available next. This was actually one of the things I disliked about these types of business as it would be nice to be able to have a regular person serve you without having to explain everything each time. This was actually one of the first times I wasn’t really satisfied with my cut because of the new person. He actually started to put product in my hair before asking me if the cut was okay which meant it was kind of too late to fix anything.
So, unfortunately after years of going there I was then curious about other places. What I did notice is how so many barbershop nowadays have a booking system which should make it more predictable for the customer knowing that that you won’t have to wait in line and at the same time you can choose your barber. This was actually really enticing as if they do a good job it’s actually a good proposition to keep going there instead,
I know for a lot of places they would just be happy with the walk in traffic, but this probably helps to sway people to go to your business instead of others as it means les uncertainty for the customer. A lot of it is pretty simple to implement too nowadays. I think the main drawback is you can have cancellations. But overall I would think it attracts more professionals too such as a dentist as they are used to that kind of system even for themselves.
