Bypassing A Traditional Interview Process

I am actually surprised how much more common this is nowadays where when it comes to interviewing candidates there are a lot of powerful people that are simply shredding resumes and basing everything on personable impression and actual accomplishments. The reason being is that resumes can often be exaggerated and they don’t immediately tell you how one necessarily preforms under pressure in that exact job. Some even literally play games and trivia now as the interview.

For some jobs this may make a lot of sense such as traditional fast food or retail jobs as it is more about people skills and real-life experience then some fancy degree. But it’s interesting when people are doing this for very technical roles such as a software engineer as you would think one would need a verifiable list of academic accomplishments. It’s almost like one has the mentality of they can always train someone to fly into space so it’s more about finding the right person.

Would you be prepared to throw away all the formality and try a laid-back approach to hiring people?
