As a kid one of the things I used to do all the time to save money was when it came to video games people would let each other borrow games from one another. This would often be strategic in what games to purchase as well. If we wanted to play a variety of new releases each person would buy a specific game where when everyone is done with the game they currently have everyone does a swap. That saves people from spending hundreds of extra dollars that as a child most don’t have.
Think about this as an adult it almost seem like most people wouldn’t even consider doing temporary trades like this to save money for various things. For example, you are having a one night party and need a fryer. Instead of asking a person you know if you could borrow theirs for one day you literally buy a fryer just for the day. It seems like the common reason is people don’t want to bother others or they are afraid they will break it.
While I suppose those are valid reasons I would imagine a lot of times like with this example it’s no big deal. It’s different if you keep asking for it to the point where one is simply taking advantage of one’s generosity. I suppose a factor too is as an adult we obviously have more money to spend and so the need to be very resourceful isn’t as great huh?
