There was a lot of news recently on how Rogers Communication is offering voluntary retirement packages in an effort to reduce its workforce by as much as fifty percent. That’s almost like a company that is doing very poor financially and is on say the brink of bankruptcy. I couldn’t help but to wonder if they were relying on AI tech to replace a lot of workers in areas such as customer service potentially. I know a lot of companies are using AI to handle customer issues where digitally it may not matter as much to many.
It gets you to think, is it too early to bet on AI being able to replace the majority of your workforce? I know for a lor of people starting a business they have implemented AI solutions as a key part of its business as if it is their employee. For example, an AI agent handling all the creative work and accounting. That’s different than someone who already has an established business where it’s a massive risk if the platform messes up. A small startup can get away with it but not ones that rely on the wheel to keep turning daily.
They do say big risk big reward and so maybe that’s what someone companies are doing to get ahead of the curve. Sure is risky though.
