Appreciating Other People’s Money Too

Today a person was expressing how whenever a person offers to treat them to say dinner or lunch where they know it will be costing the person money they often choose the cheapest item on the menu. For this example it was expressed that they ordered salads not necessarily because they like it so much over other things but rather it’s often the cheapest option.

This topic came up because there was a child that that was secretly throwing away her food as she didn’t want to finish it. That then turned into a conversation on how the adult was trying to get the child to understand that it costs a lot of money to give them things to eat for them to just throw it away. Funny enough the child seemed to think a bit more when they saw throwing the food away as literally throwing away money as if it was theirs.

That’s an interesting thought as even for myself when people treat me to things such as a restaurant I tend to want to order the cheapest stuff as possible as I value their money as if it was my own as well. It kind of helps to reinforce the idea of having good spending habits I feel without being wasteful.
