What a shock this was to read today as a large consumer electronics retail store here in Canada called Futureshop suddenly closed all of its stores without notice. The company was bought out by Best Buy a few years ago and it was stated that half the stores would covert to Best buys as well.
I guess from a consumer’s point of view there is a chance of clearance sales as this fall of the big box retail stores continue. Though they will most likely just re-allocate the stock to other stores. Unfortunate for everyone that will be losing their jobs of course. It kind of makes you think career wise too on whether or not a retail environment is a good career choice at this point where it would seem like developing new skills to work for businesses such as online oriented companies would be a safer bet.
