Lately I have been hearing a lot of stories on how business owners have either flourished or floundered over reviews posted about them on the site Yelp. There are a lot of claims that the company also has various plans available to help a business highlight positive remarks over the negative one. What I didn’t know before and found kind of humorous was that you can actually rate Yelp itself on its own site as you can see here:

This listing seemed to have generated a lot of debate as well with what appears to be a lot of disgruntled users essentially going on an all-out social media battle with the business.
Despite all this, the one thing I was thinking about was how millions of people still use the site regardless of these negative reviews. In some ways, I guess you can say a Yelp review isn’t the end all of a business huh? It did make me think too how sometimes the majority simply doesn’t care enough about an organizations negatives where as long as people get what they need in a positive way there is no need to know.
Makes you wonder what would happen if average consumers were more inclined to read and get involved in this fiasco.
