I had a conversation the other day with a person who was going on a vacation and one thing he was worried about was all the work that would remain undone while he was off. Therefore, he was expressing how he was thinking of doing some work while he was there. However, there was a risk that the final output of the work wouldn’t be as good due to the equipment not being as good.
I always like to think that if you are planning to be away for a long time then what you need to do before hand is make sure either someone else can take care of your workload or that there is no work left. Seems like a very stressful situation to be in otherwise as it would almost be like you still being in an office except it is located in a different place where you have less resources to work with.
I know the dilemma for a self employed individual is usually a bit more complex due to the if you don’t work you don’t get paid scenario. So most people want the revenue to still come in like an employee that collects vacation pay. I know how some people do it too for smaller businesses is they simply pass off the business to other people whom they have a good relationship with and in turn they do the same. It’s not too bad of an idea overall even though I know the immediate thought would be negative as it is like you are giving away free business. It’s better than stressing out and producing lower quality standard work I think.
