Wondering If Unsolicited Texts From Carriers Are Legit

I’m sure nowadays a lot of people get scam messages on their phone where people hope that sending you a fake text about winning a reward or needing your urgent attention to click on a link can often be a scam to steal your identity and money. So, I often just ignore these messages. But today I got one that was kind of weird to me at first as the message claimed to be from my phone carrier and how they were aware that I am qualified for a phone upgrade.

It caught my attention because it specifically mentioned about a physical store location in a mall which I have never actually shopped from before but the fact that it was even mentioned got me curious. There was a link and so precaution I manually typed it in when I got home on secured browser and all in case it was a scam. From the looks of it, it was an authorized dealer store. It’s still peculiar on how a dealer got my contact information to pitch a service upgrade.

The other point that got me to think is how I wonder how many people nowadays simply ignore message like these as well for the sake of security concerns. I think for myself I would have to see the sender number being the same one from the carrier where I usually receive billing notices from as an example. They occasionally send offers there as well.
