I was reading today how there was a tentative deal for actors in the US which has been going on for over a hundred days and I know people personally who have had it hard financially as a result. What was interesting to think about was some people decided to sit back and hope for the best that it would end quickly which unfortunately wasn’t the case. Then there are other people who decided to do stuff in the meantime including working at different jobs.
That makes you think where if you are put in an unfortunate situation of having no work due to strikes would you immediately try to find something else to do in order to generate an income in the meantime? I know on argument is when people are on strike then they have to pend time actually protesting as an example. Or another thought is making no money should further show the urgency in needing a deal.
While I generally think people should always be diverse and have options opened, I think for myself I would at least try and learn new skills during the downtime. It may help with your existing work or if in the unfortunate event the company decides to close as an example. It’s safer than simply hoping for the best in my opinion during hard times.
