Today I went to pick up a video game as a gift from the store GameStop and I noticed something funny when the person gave me the receipt. Instead of the receipt being branded with Gamestop logos it actually had a company called Electronic Boutique on it which was actually a very old game store that got bought out a long time ago to my knowledge. We are talking over a decade ago. I joked about this with the employee and he mentioned how they just had a bunch leftover and decided to just use it up.
For the most part people probably don’t care anyways and it’s kind of a funny example of just using what works. It does make me wonder how people on a corporate level would react as branding is kind of important to maintain consistency in an organization. My only guess this was done at a store level to save money. There were quite a few companies that were big here in Canada just to get bought out by a larger US corporation. Imagine seeing Futureshop receipts at a Best Buy store nowadays.
Maybe I’ll keep this receipt for giggles as it can be a collector’s item of sort.
