Well, it seems like it is official today as the US has implemented a 25% tariff on all Canadian goods going to the US and in return Canada is doing the same. A lot of people here are calling for everyone to try and buy Canadian products only and officials here have already sent instructions to stop buying American liquor as one example.
For myself, I think what may cost more for me is potentially computer parts as a lot of the hardware comes from the US even though a lot of it is manufactured in Asia as an example. Bad timing too as I was thinking of building a new computer with all the information released during CES 2025 this year. All in all, I think this is a business-like strategy in the US to try and make themselves more independent when it comes to things like energy or to yank companies into the US If they want to be profitable selling to the American consumer.
I will have to wait and see what happens overall as the days go by as one side could completely change its mind.
