I recently got a very good offer on my shopping app for a store where if I buy $50 worth of items they will give me $20 back in reward points. Sounds great. But this is one of the scenarios where I had no intent to spend $50 worth of goods and it can turn into a situation where I am just buying random stuff to reach the threshold. It’s still a good deal, but buying stuff you don’t need is a waste.
That’s why I usually try and see if I know friends or family members that are actually looking for items at a great deal. For example, if some people I know need eggs and I see them for about $3 a dozen then that would be a great buy they would love. By doing this, I am easily able to reach the $50 threshold where everyone gets a great deal at the end and nothing was purchased just for the sake of increasing the total.
I’m not sure why more people don’t do this versus just randomly buying an expensive bag of chips as an example. It’s a win-win for all.
