Recently I was watching this competition where I knew a friend was participating in as it was simply a contest to see who could produce the best film which would then be judged by a group of people. In these cases you never know how people will react to it so you just have to try your best. In the end it seemed like a lot of people enjoyed it and thought it would be a strong contender to win. However, as it turned out, overall the judges didn’t think it was as good as the other entries and so it wasn’t in the finalist category.
For most people you would just assume that this was a failure where you might as well dump it in the trash. However, what happened after was that people including some judges were surprised that this film didn’t even make it t the finals. As a result, people voluntarily started to look for ways to get this film out to others as they felt it needed to get some proper recognition. I guess you could say maybe the film was pretty good after all.
That’s important to remember as many times people are simply giving you there opinions. If everyone thought the same and quality always won we would probably never have things like those reality talent shows where people try to find hidden talent. Many of the stories I read even from there are how people were rejected by others elsewhere only to show they did indeed have great talent once their work got out to more people. Don’t rule out that your work was simply presented to the wrong people before just throwing it away.
