The Pressure To Spend On Valentines Day

Not surprisingly with Valentines Day today there were a lot of people scrambling to buy gifts and extravagant dinners for their loved ones and that usually means spending a lot of money. But what was interesting were those who were single that felt the need to spend too as a way of trying to do something while all the couples are celebrating. On any normal day they would just do something simple but I suppose this retail holiday just adds too much social pressure where even single people need to spend money to fit in.

If you think about it, most people don’t feel the need to spend or do extraordinary things on holiday events related to specific cultures if one has no real connection to it. It should be the same if you are single and its Valentines Day as it is meant for a specific group of people. Granted there could be events to hook up singles. But the spending and all is supposed to be for couples. If everyone is celebrating the win for a sports you have no involvement or interest in I would imagine one would ignore it to just do what they normally would without that being an influence.

Wouldn’t it make sense to view these holidays as the same? If anything for this, you could save your money for when you actually meet your ideal match is how I would look at it.
